I compiled all my guitar playing from 2023 to 2024, with over 700 hours of practice, to show how a self-taught adult beginner can learn and transform into a better guitarist.
In August 2023, I bought my first guitar as a birthday present for myself, and it soon became my best friend when I had no one to talk to. My journey began with YouTube guitar tutorials and free online courses like Justin Guitar. During the first few days, my fingers hurt so much from playing the acoustic guitar. A month went by, I overcame the finger pain and started learning songs. I realized the importance of slow practice, so I broke down every song into parts and played them slowly with a metronome. Now, looking back after 1 year of guitar progress, I can confidently say that I made the right choice in picking up the guitar as a new hobby, and there will definitely be more progress to come next year.
